About AODocs and AOLegal
AODocs is a software company created in 2012 that makes a Content Services SaaS platform. It is included by Gartner (in its Magic Quadrant) and Forrester (in its Wave) as one of the top and most innovative players in the content services space, among a sea of very old non-cloud competitors like IBM Filenet and OpenText that are approaching end of life and thus setting us for a large growth opportunity.
Our product is used by over 500 large organizations such as PwC, Colgate, Whirlpool, Solvay, Air Liquide, and Google itself to control their sensitive documents and automate critical business processes. Our client’s main use cases are case management, contract lifecycle, quality management, SOP management. We are specifically seeing a lot of traction in the legal and quality management verticals.
In 2021, AODocs launched its first vertical product, AOLegal, a SaaS solution allowing corporate legal teams to automate the lifecycle of their contracts from draft to signature and retention, and to manage legal cases, IP portfolio, corporate entities, and other legal documents. Thanks to the flexibility of the underlying AODocs platform, AOLegal beats leading vertical players in the CLM and legal tech market with a solution that is more versatile and can be easily adapted to its customers specific needs.
We are based in Paris, Atlanta, Milan and San Francisco. Our team is over 100 strong, composed of highly motivated and competent people. We believe that good ideas can come from anyone, regardless of their formal job role.
The position
Over the first months of its life, AOLegal has demonstrated a clear product/market fit and proven that it can win against the leading players of the CLM market like Icertis, Conga, IronClad, or DocuSign. We are now looking for an experienced Senior Product Manager to help us grow AOLegal to the next level.
Here’s a few reasons why it’s interesting to take that job:
- Our addressable market just got multiplied by 20 as AODocs - which was originally made for Google Workspace only - just became compatible with the Microsoft 365 environment. We can now scale up our lead generation campaigns, expanding them to a much larger market.
- Legal tech is a very hot market at the moment (Gartner predicted last year that legal technology budgets will triple by 2025, due to increasing legal workload and difficulties to recruit), and AODocs has the right technology foundation to address any legal use cases, while many players are limited to contract repositories and contracting/ negotiations support.
- You will be at the crossroads of product, marketing, and sales, at the heart of the new AOLegal business unit, which offers the upside of a startup (exciting technology, fast-paced environment) without most of the risk, being built on proven technology and incubated within a profitable company
Core responsibilities:
- Define AOLegal product strategy and features, working closely with sales, professional services, customers, and prospects to collect their inputs: what do our customers need? What makes us win or lose sales? What would make the product easier to deploy?
- Monitor the competitive landscape: how do we compare with competitors? Where are we better and where are we weak? What are the new trends in the market?
- Work with the engineering team to synthesize these inputs into a prioritized roadmap for the future evolutions of the product
- Work closely with the AODocs marketing team and internal subject matter experts, to define product messaging, build the marketing plan and write copy
- Define the AOLegal pricing strategy: which SKUs should we have and at which price point? You will be actively participating in case-by-case pricing discussions, and use this experience to continuously refine the pricing strategy.
- Develop the AOLegal sales strategy by determining which conferences & other activities we should participate in & leading our presence in these forums
- Lead our sales effort by acting as the face of the product before customers, prospects and partners and support our pre-sales and sales teams in pursuing and closing deals
- Support our deployment team in rolling out AOLegal to our customers
About you:
- You are a pragmatic leader who makes data-based decisions and articulates them succinctly. You are not afraid to dig deep into the data and answer any questions that come your way
- You are able to put yourself in the shoes of the customer: ideally, you have "been" the customer, working in a legal team or a law firm
- You have operated successfully in data-driven cultures where self-motivation is a critical success driver
- You enjoy talking to customers, and you are not afraid of getting negative feedback. You are a good public speaker
- You know that keeping your peers and your team informed on your actions is the best way to succeed.
- You are naturally curious and you ask a lot of questions.
- You have already scaled up businesses before and thrive under the pressure and chaos that come with it.
- You love to have opportunities to grow.
Requirements:
- Domain expertise in legal processes (contracts, case management, IP, and other legal document processes)
- Any experience in a product management at an enterprise software company that had product market fit (lots of customers), preferably a SaaS
- Bonus points: law degree and/or experience in practicing law in a corporate environment
