Gartner Research for Life Sciences CIOs
Hype Cycle for Life Science Research and
Development, Jeff Smith, Michael Shanler, 13 August 2020
According to Gartner: "In the wake of COVID-19, we have seen some life science companies prosper while others have struggled based on their levels of digital fitness. We expect further industry challenges over the coming year as organizations react to additional outbreaks while maintaining business operations and developing new R&D capabilities. Some business areas will be forced to change during these destabilizing moments, and we expect parts of the organization that are more digitally mature to exhibit more fitness and resilience."
According to Gartner: "This Hype Cycle explores innovative technologies relevant to life science R&D product development programs in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, diagnostics, medical device, research institution and contract research sectors."
Per Gartner, "Use this Hype Cycle to select technologies and identify innovations to build digital capabilities, products and therapies that improve patient outcomes and create new therapeutic value."
